On Tuesday March 12 Cobh will be party to the 126 strong Canadian Marching Band who will undertake the first performance of their 2013 Ireland Tour. “Bringing all the Razzmatazz only a North American Band could generate, the town will reverberate to their march along the main street of the town at 2 pm” said Michael Martin one of the organisers of the visit.
A short recital will be played on the promenade and later on in the day the group will take the Titanic Trail Guided Walking tour and learn about the town. Later they will meet and have coffee with the Mayor Councillor Sinéad Shepperd.
The group will be marching in the Dublin St Patrick´s Day Parade and will compete in the international bands competition in Limerick. Michael Martin and Dave Buckley of the Tourism industry are responsible for organising that Cobh be the first place in Ireland that will get to see the group in action. Michael Martin said, “they are here for a short time but I have no doubt it will be a memorable visit for them and for us’.
