Well done to Mark Hurley and Richie McGrath on retaining their Marlouge doubles title, dropping only a single leg on the way. Well done also to Tommy Sexton and Dan Horgan on winning the shield competition.
A total of 44 teams (88 players) competed in the largest turnout for a one day event to date. Some very strong pairings took to the oche, with a few upsets along the way. Encouraging also was the younger players showing their enthusiasm.

Mark and Richie relentless scoring and accurate finishing throughout the day saw them reach the final, beating the strong pairing of Tim OShea and Paul McGee in the Quarters, going on to take out, the inform, Brendan Browne and Patsy Histon in the semis.

In the other side of the draw the pairing of Willie Hourihan and Ken Gill caused an upset beating Gary Halpin and Gavin Fitz in the semis setting themselves up for a final spot. But it was the relentless scoring of Mark and Richie saw them on finishes after 15 or less darts in each leg taking the final 3-0.

In the shield competition some keenly contested games were going on throughout the day, with the pairing of old hands Tommy Sexton and Dan Horgan finding form as the day progressed. In the other side of the draw the Leahys, Brian and Mark, were proving very hard to beat as they fought their way to the final. Tommy and Dan continued their form taking the final on a 3-0 scoreline. Also a well done to Brendan Browne on the highest c/o of 127 on the day.

Thanks to the Marlouge for a great venue and to all those who turned out to play and support. And to everyone who helped out in running the event smoothly. Also well done to Paddy Lawlor and Paul McGee on winning the B+C doubles in Cork on New Years day. The lads threw fantastic darts throughout the day to come through a large field of players.
