Michael Farrell, principal of Scoil Iosaef Naofa has announced his retirement. He has been on the staff of the school since 1974. He became the first lay principal of the school in 1992 after Br. Benildus Fenton retired. Mike has had a great influence on school life over the years and has been to the forefront of many innovative ideas in furthering the education of the pupils. The acquisition of interactive whiteboards for all classes has been one of the latest of these and they have made teaching and learning so much more interesting for both pupils and staff. He also worked extremely hard to secure the provision of Infant Education which begins in September.
He has also been involved in many extra-curricular activities which included activities such as running the school football league, organizing Sciath na Scol matches, travelling for the many quizzes the school participated in, preparing the many school choirs and was always welcoming to visits from artists, poets and theatre groups. He was always a great source of encouragement both for the pupils and the staff of the school. He has been exemplary in the way he has gone about his work over the years. We wish him all the best in his retirement and his future plans.
