Titanic 100, Cobh 2012 is coming to an end. It’s been a great year for the town and in the Titanic centenary week alone Cobh received an economic boost of over €2 million euro through 94,000 visitors coming into the the town centre to experience the special week. Cobh and Cork Harbour was seen on Television and newspapers many times all around the world. And the increased visitor interest in Cobh has continued throughout the year.
The Titanic Closing Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday 15th of December in the Cobh Promenade and will commence at 4pm and run for one hour. A tasteful end to the Titanic Commemoration year, we will remember those associated with the Titanic, reflect on the year gone by, and look forward to embracing Cobh’s connection with the Titanic for years to come.
During the ceremony a flare chase from Cobh to the point where Titanic anchored is scheduled to light up the early evening skies and uplifting live music with a Titanic flavour will echo across the Cobh promenade where the ceremony will take place.
During the weekend of the Titanic Closing Ceremony, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th December, Cobh will hold a Festive Market in the Promenade. A selection of food stalls will be situated in the promenade and choirs, performers and bands will enhance the festive season with their music. Santa will be in the promenade between 1pm and 3pm both days. Why not take a trip on the Cobh Road Train with Santa while you are there. The Cobh Road Train will be stationed outside the Promenade and for a small fare children and families can take a special Christmas ride.
The Titanic 100 Cobh 2012 office welcomes one and all to the ceremony and Festive Markets in Cobh. Visitors, locals, volunteers and supporters, it would be great to see you and we sincerely thank you for your support during this special commemorative year.
