Members of East Cork based women´s networking group, Catalyst Cobh, met in The Commodore Hotel, on Wednesday, 20th February for an evening dedicated to building rewarding, sustainable businesses and life/work balance.
Helen Prendergast, Managing Director, MoreToExplore Ltd, spoke about the need to align personal goals with our business values. With over 35 years experience working with individuals to maximize their potential Helen Helen provided guidance on building personal resilience giving practical tips on reducing stress through self care and by identifying what is of real value to you and your business.
Entrepreneur and well known artist Philip Gray, provided the second of the evening’s presentations. In a very frank and honest address, Philip spoke about the highs and lows of his career including commissions from Dolly Parton and the Cunard Line and a disastrous investment that led him to reevaluate his own business goals. Philip recounted his decision to sell his successful business to focus on painting and his upcoming trip to the Arctic where he will attempt to create an oil painting under ice.
An impressive array of local business offerings focused on health and well-being were on displayed including stands from Helen Geary – Pranic Healing; Deirdre Mckesey – Robin Hill Clinic, Claire Cullinane – Homeopathy, Sarah Meaney -Nutcase food, Joy Burns – Tupperware and Diane Gilley of Pets Plus. Catalyst Cobh is now in it´s second year and its membership is going from strength to strength. Catalyst Cobh host regular bi-monthly meetings with the next meeting (which will be the AGM) due to take place in April, 2013.
