Cobh Tidy Towns discussed the issue of election posters in Cobh at a recent meeting. We are requesting that election posters are not hung from Cows Cross into and including Cobh Town, from Ballynoe Road on ferry approach into and including Cobh Town and from Cuskinny into and including Cobh Town. We will be contacting all candidates in #ge16 to inform them of our request. We are following the lead of other tourist towns such as Killarney, Clonakilty and Blarney. Posters are a blight on the landscape and streetscape as well as being a drain on scarce resources.
The blitz of posters competing for space often one on top of the other is unsightly. The opportunities to share images are numerous today with social media avenues as well as traditional media to publicise campaigns. The request that election posters are not hung within the boundaries specified supports the efforts of Cobh Tidy Towns to make Cobh an even nicer place to live in, work in and to visit. Thank you for helping us keep Cobh litter free.
