Cobh Catalyst Network held the 5th successful meeting on Wednesday 1st February at the Commodore Hotel. Cobh. On this occasion the registration room was set up with interesting stands from Valerie Greaney, Cobh Physical Therapy Centre, Mairead McWhinney, Wellness Coach, Colette O Donovan, Formative Learnings, Carmel O Regan, CO’R Fitness & Avril Quinn, CV Doctor / Career Coach. There was huge interest in the stands provided by members of the Cobh Catalyst Group, especially from those who had travelled from Carrigaline, Cork City and Carrigtwohill.
Chairperson of the group, Anne Moroney, opened the meeting and extended a warm welcome to all present. She especially welcomed the new attendees and spoke about how the group is growing in strength and how wonderful it was to see so many business woman from the harbour area in attendance. On behalf of the group, Anne congratulated Jo English on her recent appointment as Development Manager with the Cobh & Harbour Chamber and wished her every success in the future.
Sinead Conroy of SECAD, partners with Cobh & Harbour Chamber, in the Catalyst project, was also on hand and explained that the Catalyst Network was established to provide opportunities for women in business. Sinead outlined the supports offered by SECAD to business women and aspiring entrepreneurs in their own area and throughout South and East Cork.
The next order of business was the introduction of Brian McElhone. Brian’s runs an award winning company called Rated Research where he specialises in helping students master valuable memorization techniques. On the night Brian began by having everyone present working on ways to remember shopping lists and progressing on to how to remember names. Everyone were really impressed with how his techniques worked and went away with plenty of food for thought!
Following Brian’s lively and interactive presentation Sally Donegan of Donegan & Co. Solicitors made a presentation to Brian to thank him for giving of his services so freely. Sally is a very active member of the Cobh Catalyst steering group.
Anne Moroney closed the meeting by thanking all concerned for making the night a huge success and was happy that shortly Cobh would be celebrating the first anniversary of Cobh Catalyst.
