Cobh Community Allotments have announced with great regret that they have to vacate their current location on the Tay Road due to a change in ownership of their present site.
The very successful initiative is now in its fifth year and it’s membership has gone from strength to strength, boasting over forty plot holders and growing. Last year CCA won a major award from the Cork Environmental Forum for the best community garden.
Recognised as a great community resource for Cobh residents their seasonal allotment shop has been a huge success supplying organic produce for the discerning home cook each summer.
With all this in mind and a waiting list of potential new members CCA are determined that this should only be a minor setback and are now on the lookout for new land to carry on the project.
They are hoping there is a landowner in the Cobh area willing to lease acreage at a reasonable rate to keep this worthy, organic venture alive and flourishing.
We would be very grateful to Cobh Edition, which has always been a great help to us in the past, if they could publicise the above and perhaps win some support for our cause.
