*The Cobh Great Island Tidy Districts Awards* organised by Cobh Tidy Towns committee will be held on Monday 12th September 2011 at 7.30 pm sharp.
There were a total of 62 entries over the six categories in this year’s competition which is very generously sponsored by Cobh Credit Union. The ceremony will take place in the unique surroundings of Cobh Heritage Centre, who along with Cobh Town Council are proud sponsors of the reception. The ceremony will incorporate a comprehensive Audio Visual Presentation showcasing the efforts of the people of Cobh and the Great Island that are making our town a nicer place to live in, work in and to visit.
The presentation will be given by the judge for this year’s competition, Terry O’Regan who previously judged the Cobh Tidy Districts competition from 1989 until 1998 and who is renowned for his thorough and insightful appraisals. He is a UCD Horticulture Graduate with 41 years’ experience of the Irish landscape industry and is a member of the Irish Landscape Institute and the Institute of Horticulture. He practices as a landscape, environmental and heritage consultant.
The Awards will be presented by Mayor Jim Quinlan and the chairperson of Cobh Credit Union, Mrs. Lana Murphy.
Everybody is welcome to attend the Awards Ceremony and to celebrate along with the award winners the vast improvements that have been made in Cobh throughout the past year of which we can all be justifiably proud.
