This week Cobh Tidy Towns launched our 2013 Calendar in specatcular sunshine and brought together some of the photographers who kindly submitted photographs for the Calendar. It contains spectacular images of
Cobh and is on sale now in English’s Newsagents, the Cathedral Shop and Cobh Heritage Centre for just 10 euro.Mail order is also available by emailing cobhtidytowns@gmail.com During the week a burst pipe on Ticknock Hill led to flooding at the bottom of the hill due to an accumulation of a large amount of leaves in the drain there. Two Tidy Towns volunteers improved the situation by clearing the leaves thus unblocking the drain. After the very stormy weather last week a lot of plastic and other debris was washed up on the shores around Great Island. On Saturday a volunteer cleaned the cambers in town.

The painting around the Cathedral railings was finished after many weeks of dedicated painting up there. Painting commenced on the railings at the bandstand and the seats in the Promenade. An accumulation of cans and litter was cleaned from the Burma steps and the Rock yet again over the weekend. The approach roads were cleaned by volunteers during the week also.New dog litter bins have been hung around Cobh to facilitate disposal of waste by dog owners. A reminder that dog litter can be disposed of in any street bin around town. We continue to meet on Saturday mornings at 10am by the playground on the Five Foot Way.
