This week Cobh Tidy Towns in association with Cobh Credit Union and Cobh Town Council launched the Tidy Districts Competition for 2012.
In 2011, we were successful in the National Tidy Towns competition and were awarded a Bronze Medal in our category. This was a momentous occasion for Cobh with highly visibly improvements made throughout the town and its environs. Not only is the current success of Cobh in this national competition a great testament to the sense of civic pride and spirit of co-operation here, but it has highlighted to those at home and abroad that Cobh is a “must see” historical and picturesque destination in Ireland. With over 60 Cruise liners visiting Cobh in 2011 and even more visitors expected this year for the Commemoration of the Titanic, it is incumbent upon us to showcase our town positively and to strive to surpass the standard set in the 2011 Tidy Towns Competition.
Cobh Credit Union, the largest community based organisation and business in Cobh continues to generously support the Tidy Districts Competition as well as the ongoing work of Cobh Tidy Towns.
Our judge in the Tidy Districts Competition, Terry O’Regan, returns this year with his great expertise and enthusiasm. His adjudication will contribute to an educational and inspirational awards ceremony.
By entering the Cobh-Great Island Tidy Districts Competition 2012 either as a Residents Association, Business or an Individual Citizen you can play your part in making Cobh-Great Island an even nicer place to live in, to visit and to do business in whilst also bringing us closer to our collective goal of making Cobh Ireland’s Tidiest Town! Entry forms are available in Cobh Credit Union and Cobh Town Council Offices as well as on Cobh Tidy Towns Facebook page.Closing date for entries is Friday 1st June.
