This Easter weekend twelve people joined the voluntary effort of Cobh Tidy Towns to make Cobh a nicer place to live in, work in and visit.
Apart from the now weekly cleaning of the Fota road and other approaches to Cobh, lamp posts in the town centre and a railing in O’Neills place was painted and the area by the Cross River Ferry was tended to. Three volunteers headed to the Old Church Cemetery with strimmers and a lawnmower and combined with the work of other volunteers throughout the week now have over three quarters of the old section of the cemetery looking respectable and indeed respectful.
Volunteers continue to meet every Saturday at 10 am at the playground by the Five Foot Way at Whitepoint. People can also volunteer at a time that suits themselves. Please call Ursula on 085 1668271 for further information and to get the equipment necessary to make a very positive change in our community.
