The Triathlon Season is coming to an end, and Cobh Triathlon Club have had a very busy and successful first year. Well done to Daithi Reilly, John Walsh, Ross Gernon, Michael Fogarty, Aan Bardsley, Richie Meaney, Jim O Connell, Michael Delaney, Don Ryan, Jess Bruton, Brenda Bruton, Emma Kelleher, Mary Maher, Cathy Walsh, and Margaret Jones, who all competed in the Blackwater Triathlon in Fermoy last Saturday, representing Cobh Tri Club in both male and female categories, and also in the relay team category. Thank you to friends and families who came down to support us. For some, this was their first experience of a Triathlon and an enjoyable day was had by all.
Other fantastic achievements this season include Chris Coady’s participation in an Ultramarathon, Rob Doherty competing in a Half Ironman, Margaret Jones running a half Marathon, Michael Fogarty, Ross Gernon and John Walsh swimming the Escape from Spike Swim, some members cycled the Ring of Kerry, and others are currently planning to take part in the upcoming Cork to Cobh race.
A club members meeting will take place in the lounge area of Cobh GAA club at 08 30pm on Thursday 22nd September. Please make a special effort to attend. Anyone who is interested in starting triathlon next season are also very welcome. A winter training schedule has yet to be finalised but you can check www.cobhtri.com for training details. Cobh Triathlon Club facebook page is also very informative. Congratulations to all our members for a fantastic season. Don’t forget to keep up the hard work over the winter
