A group of people are making an effort to get the Boxing Club in Cobh up and running again. The Community Centre has kindly given the premises for use and two coaches have given their commitment along with a local business man agreeing to become the Club President. A stary up grant of €1000 has also be assured by the Irish Sports Council, of which €600 will go toward new equipment to accompany the existing equipment already at the centre.
A public meeting has been called for tonight, Thursday 21st October, in the Community Centre at 8.00pm and it’s hoped that, Boys, Girls and Parents that may be interested in joining the new Cobh Boxing Club will attend. The group behind the new club also hope to form a committee to aid and back-up the coaches and to assist in the provision of a happy and safe enviornment for children as they learn the art of boxing in between representing Cobh around the country.
