Cobh Classic Car Club are pleased to announce that the Commodore Hotel, in Cobh, is to sponsor the forthcoming Titanic Classic event, which takes place on Saturday, June 22nd. This event, which first ran last year as part of the Titanic 100 Commemoration, is expected to attract in excess of fifty veteran, vintage and classic cars to the historic town.

This is not the first time that the Commodore Hotel are involved with a motoring event. In the 1970s, they sponsored the Cobh Rally, which featured spectacular special stages on the roads of the Island. In the 1980s, this rally evolved into the Fota Rallysprint. The top drivers in the country and many top overseas crews competed in these Rallysprints. They were a joint venture between the Cork Motor Club and UCC, who allowed the Rallysprint to take place on network of roads on Fota Estate. The gate proceeds went to the fledgling Fota Wildlife Park, which was badly in need of funding at the time.  Sponsorship for these events came from the Commodore Hotel, which also hosted the Rally Headquarters

Cobh Classic Car Club are delighted with the offer of sponsorship, club Chairman, Tom McGoey said, “We are very happy that the Commodore Hotel has come on board as sponsors and it is encouraging to see a local business involved with such a high profile event in our town”.

The Commodore Hotel Titanic Classic will see a diverse range of cars from the early part of the 1900s right up to 1960s. The people of Cobh and visitors, on the day, are in for a treat and will be able to look at these wonderful cars up close, while on display in the town, and on the roads of Great Island.
