Cobh will be judged in the National Tidy Towns competition any time after 1st June 2014.
Cobh has made considerable progress in the Tidy Towns competition in the past number of years. We won our first bronze medal in 2011 and we were successful in achieving a silver medal in 2012 and 2013, which is a huge achievement for any community.
In 2013 we moved a little closer to our ambitious target of winning a Gold medal. However Cobh Tidy Towns cannot do this with only 20 volunteers out of a population of 14000.
We understand that Life is busy but ……..there is something that everyone can do to make things better where we live. Everyone – Please keep the street outside your home clean and tidy.
Motorists – please keep your litter inside your car and bin it at home.
Walkers and joggers – if you see a piece of clean litter, please pick it up and bin it. Imagine the difference if everyone picked up just one piece. Imagine the difference if no one ever picked up a piece!
Young people – please take home or bin your cans and fast food wrappers from the Cathedral Car Park, Burma Steps, the Rock, the Holy Ground or wherever you congregate.
Householders – please pay for your refuse disposal and don’t leave it abandoned around our town for volunteers to deal with. We really don’t like having to deal with County Hall to find you but we will.
Smokers – please remember that cigarette butts are litter and always bin your butt.
Dog owners – please don’t leave your dog out alone to foul our pavements and green areas and please clean up after them when you have them out for a walk.
Businesses – please clean outside your premises to clear cigarette butts and other litter throughout the day, everyday. Let’s work together to keep Cobh clean.
Cobh is *Going for Gold.* We need you!
Everyone has a part to play, so please do what you can.
