The official launch of Cobh Camera Club´s photographic exhibition entitled `Home´ took place in the Sirius Arts Centre on Thursday evening. Local Artist Philip Gray opened the exhibition and introduced the guest Curator Phil Curtin.
Since 2009, Cobh Camera Club have been working together to create wonderful images of Cobh and East Cork. For this exhibition, Phil Curtin,
lecturer on Multimedia Studies at CIT, has provided guidance for the group to explore the theme of HOME.
Cobh Camera Club has been in existence for four years, addressing an avid interest in the development of photography locally, there are a total of 35 members to date. The aims of the club include the education of its members in ideas, technical expertise, equipment and displaying of original photographic works.
Through evaluation, competitions, association among friends and trips to places of interest, the art of photography is encouraged and resulting in a fine collection of images from Cobh, its people, events and environs.
This exhibition of Cobh Camera Club is an example of Sirius Arts Centre’s policy of providing space for local artistic activities while encouraging
participation in creative processes. The exhibition runs until November 17.
