Photographs sought for Cobh Tidy Town Calendar

As our terrible summer comes to an end, Tidy Towns volunteers continue to work around Cobh every day of the week, helping to make it beautiful for locals and visitors alike. On Saturday ten volunteers swept the footpaths between Benmore Cross and the shop and the Tennis Club and painted some poles in the area. They also repointed the sign for Cobh Museum that was directing people towards the Tennis Club. This is in addition to watering (believe it or not!), picking litter from blackspots such as the Rock and the Burma Steps and cutting grass in the Old Church Cemetery.

The Discovering Cobh Calendar is Cobh Tidy Towns most important fundraiser and is also a great present for people to send to relations and friends all over the world. If anyone has photographs of Cobh or Great Island or photogtraphs of views from the Great Island taken in the last twelve months and would like it considered for inclusion in the 2013 calendar please email them to cobhtidytowns@gmail.com. The photographs must have a landscape orientation and would need to be a few megabytes in size.

The Awards Ceremony will be held in Cobh Heritage Centre on Monday 24th September and all entrants will be formally invited.

The National Tidy Towns Awards Ceremony will be held on 10th September 2012. Cobh may yet be judged in the second round judging. In the recent past it was judged over the Regatta weekend so it is important to keep the momentum going.
