Pirates – Wind & Rain Prevent Juve Games & Mini Blitz

Published

on

The heavy wind and rain prevented any juvenile games taking place in the Paddock on Saturday, including the mini blitz which will be re-fixed.

Both the adults teams were in league action on Sunday, with both teams making the short journey to take on city clubs.

The Junior 2s made the trip to Highfield looking for maximum points to put them in the chase for top spot in the group. High field started the better of the 2 sides with Pirates needing a little time to settle. However as the game progressed Pirates came back into the game, with very good performances from Kevin Allen and Noel O Driscoll. Dave “The Bull” Mulcahy crossed the opposition line twice with Liam Greaney also crossing. Conor McDowall kicked a penalty and Liam Greaney added to his tally with a conversion. Final score Pirates 20  23 Highfield

In the other fixture of the day the Junior 1 side travelled to play Old Christians. This injury stricken side went into the contest as firm under dogs and as time time loomed the score line read Christians 3 Pirates 0. As the 2nd half progressed so did the score board. Christians got a try within 10 minutes of the restart leaving Pirates with it all to do. A Pirates sin-binning coupled with an intercept try paved the way for the final score line of Christians 18 Pirates 5, with Tadgh Hawes crossing the white line for the Pirates.

Next week has Pirates Junior 1s at home playing Tralee in the Munster Junior League.

Next Sunday also see the draw for the Pirates 300 RBS 6 Nations draw take place in the club after the Tralee game.. Tickets are still available for this fantastic draw, with tickets, travel and accommodation up for grabs for all of Irelands 6 nations campaign.
