Row Around the Island  – Charity Donation* Every year, Rushbrooke Rowing Club participates in a row around Great Island – some boats in relay and some in one go! Crews battle against rainy weather, rough waters, and blisters to raise significant amounts for Cork based charities. At the annual AGM in November, the club presented €600 to 3 different charities – Cork Brain Tumor Support , Cork Spina Bifida Association & Marymount Hospice. A further 1200 Euro will be presented to two more deserving charities in the new year – Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind (Autism Unit) and Skibbereen Community Hospital- € 600 each. A total of €3000 was raised thanks to the efforts of the organisers and participants of the Row Around the Island.

Annual AGM & 2013 Committee*
Rushbrooke Rowing Clubs Annual AGM was held in Ballynoe Inn on November 14th. Outgoing chairman Ted McSweeney reflected on the success of the past year. The club had outstanding success in the Cork Costal Rowing Championship, Cork County Rowing Finals, which were hosted by the club in Haulbowline and in the Irish Costal Rowing Championships in Courtmacsherry. Months of training paid off resulting in numerous medals winners across the board. Other major highlights of the year included our massive Titanic Rowing Challenge, which raised significant funds for the club, as well as noth Bring n Buy events hosted by Ger McGrath.

Those elected to the 2013 Rushbrooke Rowing Club Committee include – President & Coach Neil Greaney, Vice-President TBD, Chairman Neil McCarthy, Vice Chairman & Coach Dave O’ Sullivan, Secretary Marianne O’ Sullivan, Vice Secretary Marc McGrath, Treasurer Debbie Parson, Vice-treasurer Ann Greaney, PRO Cliona Moore, Registration & Membership Officer Michelle Lynch, Club Captain Fiona Perryman, Coach Sean Murphy and working members Norrie Murphy and Colm Burke. Many thanks to the outgoing committee members for their years of hard work and dedication to the club, in particular Ted McSweeney and Jennifer Montague. Best of luck to the new committee in the year to come!

Annual Xmas Bingo Night
The club will be holding the annual Christmas Bingo Night on Wednesday, December 12th in the Commodore Hotel. This is a great night every year, with a fantastic range of hampers to be won in the draw along with the exciting bingo cash prizes.

Training
Indoor training with fitness coach Sean Murphy is well underway. U14’s train in the club gym at 6.30pm for one hour, followed by 17+ at 7.30pm. On Wednesday’s, 17+ train again at 7.30pm. New members are always welcome. Make it your new years resolution to give coastal rowing a go and see the massive benefits that you will get from the exercise, fresh air, fun & club spirit that is gained from rowing with Rushbrooke Rowing Club. No previous rowing experience required. Open to all ages, genders & abilities over the age of 10.
