Sirius Arts Centre
presents
Opening this Friday 8 October at 7:00pm
“Leave Your Little Heart in the Lost and Found”
New works by Cork based Artist Sandra Minchin
And
King of the Ridiculous – Part 1
New works by Chinese Artist Maleonn Ma
Sandra Minchin’s installation of mixed media and video focuses on life experience and memory. Her work seeks to stimulate unconscious emotions ,desires and compulsions that exist between tow worlds of the real and the fantasized, focusing specifically on the inability to distinguish what we remember and what we long for.
Shanghai based photographic artist Maleonn Ma, presents a new collection of images made in Cobh during his artist’s residency in July 2010 and also in Swansea. King of the Ridiculous crosses the boarders of absurdity, telling the fable of a failed leader’s last grasp at greatness, lost in a foreign land. Ma’s work crosses over from fantasy and within this play of jest there resounds echoes of both comedy and tragedy.
