Emigration through Cobh/Queenstown
A talk with Historian Dr. Alecia St. Leger
Friday 13 April at 2:00pm

Dr. Alecia St. Leger will contextualize the exhibition “Leaving Home: Images of Emigration Cobh Circa 1920’s –from the Mount Brandon Hotel Collection. She will give an overview into the history of Emigration, focusing specifically on the Cobh/Queenstown connection.
Dr. Alicia St. Leger was born in Cork and obtained an honours B.A. in history and geography and an M.A. in history from University College Cork. She was awarded a Ph.D. in modern history from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, where her thesis examined aspects of Irish emigration. Her publications include A History of the Royal Cork Yacht Club, published in 2005. She works as a freelance historian based in Cork and is involved in publications, museums and exhibition projects all over Ireland.
