U15 Premier
Park United 1 Springfield Ramblers 5
Spingfield Ramblers U15s got off to a very good start to the New Year with a comfortable win over Park United in Mitchelstown on Saturday morning with a 5-1 win over their hosts. A little bit rusty and sluggish after the two week Christmas break, Springers settled down into the game and with a great ball from Adam O’Sullivan to play Adam Horgan in and slot the ball in under the advancing goalkeeper to go 1 up. Cathal Roche turned provider for Adam Horgan’s second with a great ball played between the centre back and full back for Horgan to go on and slot the ball under the keeper again.

Charlie Fleming put in a man of the match performance with some great control, passing moves and link up play. The third goal came from a great cross from Calvin Murphy on the right that evaded the defenders and left Simon Doyle to calmly place his shot in to the back of the net. Second half sub Ciaran Ahern proved he could equally match Adam Horgan’s brace in the first half when he went clear twice and his pace took him away from the defenders and coolly finished beyond the advancing keeper. Over all a good win and it keeps us in the mix at the top of the table.

SUN JAN 6th

Umbro 12 Premier
Ringmahon Rangers 1 Springfield Ramblers 3
An important start to the New Year, the lads got out of the traps early & brought the game to Ringmahon from the start. Mikey Foley got on the score sheet with an impressive run from midfield, his shot being too powerful for the keeper to hold. Eoin Kelly was a constant thorn in the side of the Ringmahon defence with his tireless running.

Just when Ringmahon thought they got back in the game with a fine header from a corner kick our keeper Jamie Bates made a fantastic & crucial save. After a good passage of play Ciaran Griffin put in a fine cross neatly finished off by Mikey Foley. Springfield kept the pressure on in the 2nd half & got the all-important 3rd goal. After another impressive run by Eoin Kelly his shot was parried by the keeper into the path of Cian Walker who clinically finished. Ringmahon to their credit never gave up & made us fight hard to the end for the points. Others that impressed today were Colin Lane & Nathan O Connell.
