SAT MAR 30
Umbro 13 Division 2
Springfield Ramblers 1 Tramore Athletic 2
This was a game of missed chances for Springfield Ramblers. On another day we would have won this comfortably. We had total control and countless chances but it just wouldn’t go in for us on the day. The goal was scored by Keelan Lee.
Under 17 Premier
Avondale 0 Springfield Ramblers 8
With Dean Keating and Gary Stack prominent from the start Springfield Ramblers dominated the open stages of play and were unlucky not to take the lead when James Stoat’s 20 yard shot struck the crossbar and the danger was cleared. Springfield Ramblers took the lead when Shane Marshall’s slide rule pass cut the home defence open and freed Danny Barry who finished from just inside the box. From a Danny Barry corner Adam O’Sullivan’s shot put Springfield Ramblers 2-0 up.
Springfield Ramblers continued to dominate into the second half and when Sean McLoughlin freed John Kennedy he beat 3 players and scored from a narrow angle. When Avondale did threaten Adam Devlin and Stephen Horgan proved too strong for the home attack. The game was over as a contest when Stephen O’Leary freed Danny Barry to score his second and Springfield Ramblers fourth. John Kennedy scored his second when he finished a cross from Ray Murphy. He completed his hat trick when he finished a Stephen Lee cross. With 15 minutes to go an excellent Adam O’Sullivan shot put Springfield Ramblers 7-0. Danny Barry was denied his hat-trick when his 20 yard free kick was saved by the Avondale keeper but the alert Tommy (Drogba) Stafford followed up to score Springfield Ramblers eight goal.
Best on the day were Stephen O Leary, James Stoat and Shane Marshall
