Springfield Ramblers (2) v Greenwood (0)
This was great team performance by Springfield against a very big & physical Greenwood team. Two great goals in the first half were enough to get us out of Cork. After a great passage of play the first goal was a fantastic header by captain Mikey Foley after a great cross from the impressive Eoin Kelly. The second ball was again a slick move,a diagonal ball from Ciaran Griffin found Eoin Kelly who finished superbly on the near post. Nathan O Connell led the line superbly all day. Colin Lane was our best defender and made an important covering tackle to keep our clean sheet going into half time.
Greenwood upped the tempo in the second half but Springfield matched them. At 2-0 Jamie Bates made a great save spreading himself well. Diarmuid Kearney came off the bench and was very unlucky, his effort hitting the post.
Best on day were Mikey Nathan Colin & Eoin.
Thanks to all who came out and supported the lads.
Umbro 11 Division 1
Springfield Ramblers (1) v Youghal United (1)
SR’s started strongly with H Ellis scoring at 15mins. They remained in control with lots of chances till just before half time, when Youghal were given a penalty. Despite getting a hand to it keeper D Burke was unlucky not to save it. The second half was a hard fought battle and although SR hit the crossbar, post and forced numerous saves, the goal eluded them. Youghal had a chance to win with 2nd penalty in the last 5 mins, but D Burke made a great save. 1-1 at FT. Fullback line of A Hastings, J Donnachie, S Cummins, B Frahill was outstanding. MOTM D Burke for pulling off a great save under huge pressure and keeping us in the match in the last 5 mins.

Springfield Ramblers (2) v Mayfield United (3)
Mayfield deservedly won this fourth round national cup game 3-2. Springfield Ramblers did not turn up on the day and were only kept in the game by the excellent Tony Lynch. Goals by David Sloane and Fionn Duggan. Best of luck to Mayfield in the next round.
