CANCER IS A WORD SO POWERFUL THAT IS FORCES YOU TO FOCUS TO PRIORITIZE AND TO LEARN FAST WHAT’S IMPORTANT IN LIFE!!
We are appealing to people to come out and run / walk on April 15th 2012. Help us make a difference in the fight against Cancer. Your support is much needed and appreciated. Let’s do our town proud by supporting this worthy cause.
The third annual “Great Island 10 Mile Road Race’ is coming to the streets and roads of Cobh and once again it is being arranged for the benefit of the Irish Cancer Society and for Palliative Care in particular. The feedback from those taking part over the last couple of years has been extremely positive and reflects very favourably on the race itself, the scenery that Cobh has to offer and the support the runners receive from local residents. All this has combined to make this event a very enjoyable experience for all involved.
The object of the exercise is to raise as much money as possible to ensure that the Palliative Care service is available for those unfortunate enough to need it AND NEED IT WE WILL!!
Palliative care offers cancer sufferers the opportunity to spend their remaining time in the relative comfort of their own homes surrounded by those they love while ensuring them the dignity and privacy that only a home can offer. It is impossible to put a price on such a service – and it’s free.
This event is being organised by a group of local people who have lost either family or friends to Cancer. The run is open to everyone. If you don’t feel you can run it then come out and walk it or alternatively come out and support the runners on the day and spur them on!! Anyone interested in entering can:
Register online or download an entry form from www.greatisland10.com
Register on the day in Cobh Community Centre
