Published

on

Following months of training and preparation, Breaking The Silence’ inaugural Walk For Life on 1st May from Kenmare to Killarney was a huge success! The Group were delighted that 70 walkers joined them on the beautiful 16k walk along the old Kenmare Road for this unique event to raise funds and awareness for Suicide Intervention, Prevention and Training.  Breaking The Silence were very grateful to receive much valued sponsorship and contributions from Pfizer, Super Valu Cobh and Butlers Buses and fantastic assistance from the Paramedics Team.  Afterwards  Walkers enjoyed a beautiful meal at The Kenmare Bay Hotel where Kelly Mellerick thanked everybody for their invaluable support on behalf of the Group.  It is hoped that the Walk will be an annual occasion and details in relation to the 2012 Walk will be available to the public in early 2012.

Breaking The Silence is a Cobh based voluntary Group that helps to create a Suicide Safer Community by connecting the person at risk of Suicide with life preserving resources.  The Group will run their next free ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) Course in Cobh on 31st May and 1st of June and for details please email breakingthesilencecobh@gmail.com To keep up to date with Breaking The Silence training programmes and activities you can find us on facebook by searching for ‘Breaking The Silence Cobh’.
