Our Minors lined out against Carrigtohill in their County final at Camogie HQ on Saturday. It was some of our girls second visit to Castle Rd in a week having had such good fortune with the Juniors last Saturday. In a game that was, for the most part evenly pitched, where scores were traded for the first 20 or so minutes, how we went into half time down by 2 goals is more testament to a strong running Carrig forward line, because honestly this is one of the meanest defences around, they generally don’t give goals away.
The second half saw our girls, in fairness to them all, playing their hearts out but the scores we desperately needed just didn’t materialise, although keeping our opponents scoreless for the half, only tacking on a point was never going to undo the damage done in the first half. The old cliche rings out “goals win games” and fair play to Carrig they took their chances, but really really hard luck to our girls who have given us all great enjoyment over the season, and have, every one of them, given their all to make it to two finals….not a bad year all told. Well done girls. We’re all very proud of you.
