Mayor of Cobh, Cllr. Sinead Sheppard joined some of the charity´s volunteers, staff and Board Members to mark this special occasion. Speaking at the event, Cllr. Sheppard praised Cobh Youth Services for their work in supporting the youth of Cobh since its inception some 20 years ago. She also wished the charity well with its new fundraising initiative.
Cobh Re-Store is situated on Cobh´s West Beach and sells a host of quality second hand items, from clothes and accessories to collectables, books, toys and home décor.
Cobh Youth Services Board Chairman, Cathal Rassmussen said, “We´re really excited about this new venture. Thanks to the wonderful support we received from our volunteers and donors, we´re delighted to be opening our doors before Christmas. Approximately 120 young people benefit from our services at any given time and our hope is that income generated through Cobh Re-Store will help us to continue growing our services.”
Cobh Youth Services provide after-school services and activities for young people aged 7 – 25. Programmes on offer at their Youth Café `Chill on the Hill´ and Mount Crozier Sports centre include after school study facilities, arts and crafts, drama, music, dance, film making, summer camps and sporting activities.
Operating hours are from 9 am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. Donations of second hand items for Cobh Re-Store are welcome. Contact Fionnghuala Smith on 086 040 3822 or e-mail fionnghuala.cys@gmail.com.
