Young Musicians in our Community are setting a very positive example for others to follow. By using their musical talents, locals Niamh Halligan and Diarmuid Moroney decided to take part in the St. Stephen’s Day tradition of the “Wren” by playing entertaining traditional music, with the purpose of raising funds for Suicide Intervention and Prevention Training. As an outcome of this fundraising, these talented young people raised €160 for Breaking The Silence and when asked why they chose the group, they modestly replied that their motivation came from completing the Safe Talk Workshop a couple of years ago. Of course we mustn’t forget Niamh’s brother Ian Halligan who patiently drove the pair from pub to pub to play their songs.
Breaking The Silence is a Cobh based voluntary group that works to help create a Suicide Safer Community by connecting the person at risk of Suicide with life preserving resources. We are an entirely voluntary Community Group and without the support of the Community we could not do the work that we do. For information on upcoming courses with Breaking The Silence please email training.breakingthesilence@gmail.com and to keep up to date with group activities you can find us on facebook by searching for `Breaking The Silence Cobh’.
