Ros and Eamonn Crotty will be giving a full report in due course on the wonderful turn-out of the Annual l0 mile Road Race to raise funds for Cancer Care.
Meanwhile, as I only help out in the periphery of this community event, that is, in the catering side of things, I just wish to extend a huge thanks to everyone who donated sandwiches and cakes in such abundance on the day. As the race had been re-scheduled because of bad weather, we felt we couldn’t trouble people again to prepare food so we Just hoped for the best. To our amazement, the food just poured in and, at one stage, we thought we couldn’t handle so much but I’m so glad to report that it was all eaten and enjoyed by the many runners, walkers and supporters; hence a wonderful day was enjoyed by all.
Huge thanks again to everyone for your kind generosity with such an array of food and willingness to support such a great community event. Thanks as always to the Community Centre and Cope Foundation for their use of the kitchen facilities. Last but by no means least, thanks to all the helpers with tea-making, big and small, and of course to Noreen and Louise Harrington who never fail every year with their energy and enthusiasm to keep it all running so smoothly.
Breda Donovan.
