Butterfly Wings 2011 Update

Butterfly Wings would like to thank all those who recently did the Mini-marathon for us and St. Theresa’s Ward in the Mercy Hospital.  We had nearly 30 people walking, running and skipping for us this year.  A great carnival feeling was had on the day, and our new logo, sign and T-Shirts had their debut, all helping to raise more awareness and funds for these very worthy causes. We would like to thank all those who sponsored our walkers and who walked for us.  We know times are difficult at the moment and are constantly in awe at the support people give us.   In total €2462 was raised for Butterfly Wings and St. Theresa’s Ward, with the money for St. Theresa’s Ward being added to the total raised by Sinead O’Keeffe’s Head Shave fund.

So what are we up to now for the next few months??

 We have a stand at the fabulous Christmas Art and Craft Fair in the Cobh Community Centre on the 4^th Dec, come along and see the wonderful work we do, but also, we have a range of things that might just answer that holiday question – What do I buy for the person who has everything?    Why not buy something that not only is wonderful but also helps a charity.  We will have tickets for sell for the fantastic Butterfly Ball (17^th March Fota Island Resort), T-Shirts, Hoodies and Key rings, all bearing our new and improved logo.

The boys who graced us with their female alter egos at the mini-marathon are hard training for their trip to Kilimanjaro next year so keep an eye out for some interesting fundraisers coming in the New Year. 

Finally preparations are well underway for this year’s Butterfly Ball on 17^th March in the Fota Island Resort.  Tickets are €80 and as always it benefits the Night Nurse Programme of the Irish Cancer Society.  This is a fabulous night always and we are very excited about our new venue.  Tickets can be purchased from any of the committee and can be paid for in instalments.  So why not dust off the glad rags and have a great Patrick’s Day raising funds for a great cause!  (Tickets available for the perfect stocking filler!)
