Christmas in Cobh will officially start when Santa Claus arrives in Cobh by boat on Saturday 4th December at 12 noon.
See You In Cobh is encouraging families to come out and greet him on The Pier Head in the centre of Cobh and to visit him in his Grotto in the Sirius Arts Centre from 12.30 to 4.30pm. There will be a free children’s art workshop with Artykids in the Commodore Hotel from 2.30pm, guest choirs and musicians will perform at the Christmas tree in the town centre from 3pm and at 4.30pm Santa Claus will lead a torch lit procession from Cobh Heritage Centre to the Christmas tree where the Christmas lights will be officially switched on at 5pm.
The Christmas in Cobh Event Guide is being distributed to virtually every home and business on the Great Island and is packed with information on events happening in Cobh throughout the Festive season. Further events are listed on the website www.christmasincobh.com.
See You In Cobh is inviting all businesses in Cobh to enter the Shop Window display competition under the theme Shop, Dine and Celebrate in Cobh this Christmas. Some seasonal merchandising material is being provided and windows must be dressed by Friday December 3rd. The winners will be announced at the Christmas Cobh Audience with Dominic Finn in the Great Island Community Centre on Sunday 19th December at 8pm. Tickets for what promises to be a spectacular feast of entertainment cost just €10 and are available from the Commodore Hotel and at the door.
Christmas in Cobh Christmas Cards costing just €5 for a pack of six are still available from English’s card shop, the Cathedral Shop, Keatings Londis, Harbour Books, Illusive and from Ursula Duffy (4813581). All of the proceeds from the sale of the cards will be used to illuminate the exterior of St. Colman’s Cathedral with LED lights.
