A very mixed up set of results this week folks….firstly our Junior team put in an exceptional first half performance in Camogie HQ V’s Charleville on Thursday evening, the old cliche of a game of two halves rings out as it was our opponents who had the better second period. Losing by 3 points is hard to fathom but our girls will bounce back with lessons learnt and I’m sure will be better and stronger for this loss. Special mention to Chloe Smith who broke a bone in her ankle during this game get well soon Chloe. Speaking of lessons learned, our Minor’s, if you remember their last outing was their league final loss to Newcestown, turned the bitter disappointment of that loss to drive them to victory today against Charleville. In what can only be described as a pure pleasure to watch, our girls put this game as a contest out of sight in our opponents back yard early on. With a flowing passing game notching up scores with nearly every attack. 3.04 to 0.00 at half time and it didn’t get any better for our hosts in the second
half a couple of well taken points followed by three more goals sent us home early…well done girls.
Our U14’s girls had earned themselves a place in the county semi’s, through sheer determination and fine team performances early on in the summer. But hopes of matching the U14 boys expolits in the county came crashing to a halt when we met Youghal on Saturday afternoon. The spark that was so evident in earlier rounds just failed to ignite and Youghal who had strength in depth put us to the sword early on scoring four goals in the first half. When the goals we needed so badly didn’t materialise a real gutsy performance in the second half kept the opposition at bay only allowing them score two points. Hard luck girls yet well done on a fantastic season.
We are still waiting for our U15 final date to be fixed and will let you know when the Minor’s play their next round.
