At the weekend Cobh Tidy Towns “launched” our latest feature at the Cow Cross. The Mirror dinghy was donated by Paddy and Freda Kavanagh and painted by Paddy Keenan. The “fisherman” has been christened The Optimist. We welcome all suggestions for the name to place on the stern of the boat. The area will be even more colourful in the coming weeks as our spring bulbs show off their colour.

On Saturday 12 volunteers made it out for a few hours. Litter was picked on Bishops Road and up to Carrignafoy. 4 volunteers headed out to the old Graveyard to tidy up branches which had been trimmed.More leaves were swept from the footpaths along the High Road and overhanging brambles were cut thus freeing up the path for pedestrians.A youth group from the Parish Centre has joined up with efforts of Cobh Tidy Towns and will be out every Tuesday keeping the area around the Cathedral clean.Young people from Chill on the Hill will be out for the next 2 Saturdays helping gather pieces of litter for a special project.Litter continued to be gathered throughout the week from the approach roads into Cobh. We appeal to motorists to keep their litter in their vehicles to dispose of responsibly and not in our hedgerows and roads.
