Due to the weather, it was an impossible week to plan anything but on Tuesday night eight volunteers swept the footpaths and roadsides from Cobh Garda Station to the Station Master’s House. Six full bags of debris were gathered.
9 volunteers met on Saturday and painting at Top of the Hill as well as at the Cathedral carpark continued. There was also spraying of weeds, litter picking and grass cutting done.2 large bags of cans and bottles were cleaned from the Burma Steps on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The Optimist, aka Timmy Optimisty has returned to the Cow’s Cross and hopefully will bring a smile to people’s faces as they pass by each day. Many thanks to everyone who helped out or offered to help. Chippy Keenan and Calvin McKeown for repairing the boat, Ger Geasley for getting a new mannequin, Helen Cadogan for the new head, Mona Kennedy for the coat, Martin Morey for the new Tiger Coleman, Dr. Michael Martin and Tom Kelly for making cash donations to allow Cobh Tidy Towns to buy the necessary materials and Jim, Hendrick, Ursula and Ray for the behind the scenes organisation and for putting the mannequin in place.
