With the Tidy Towns results due out on Monday 13th September, the Tidy Towns committee is pushing ahead with its plans to make Cobh Ireland’s Tidiest Town.
Starting on Saturday 11th September we will have two regular work hours each week – Saturday mornings at 10 am and Tuesday evenings at 6.30 pm. We are asking for volunteers to assemble at the playground at the Five Foot Way. Small groups will then go to areas that need attention. All equipment necessary will be supplied.
Cobh can win the Tidy Towns competition in two ways: by a small number of people doing a lot of work or a large number of people each doing a small amount of work. So please be a part of it, bring a friend and commit yourself to volunteering. Contact Ursula Duffy on 085 1668271 for more information.
The Gala Awards ceremony for the Cobh – Great Island Tidy Districts Awards, sponsored by Cobh Credit Union will take place in Cobh Heritage Centre at 7.30 pm on Thursday 23rd September. There was a fantastic number of entries with 27 Districts, 38 Gardens and 30 Blooming Marvellous competition entries. The competition was judged over three days by Cobh Town Architect, Mr. John Ludlow.
All entrants will be formally invited to the audio visual ceremony and members of the public are encouraged to attend.
