Published

Thank you to the volunteers who continued with work around Cobh during the week. More poles were freshened up with black and white & black and yellow on Tuesday evening. Others began to clean up packed earth and weeds along the footpath in Carrigaloe. Barrels with colourful flowers and designs are now in place on the Lake road. Thanks to Darren,Billy,Anthony,William, Kevin and Hendrick almost all of the grass in the Old Church Cemetery is cut for the first time in ten years!!

13 volunteers helped out with Cobh Tidy Towns on Saturday morning. More of the packed earth and weeds were removed along the road and footpath at Carrigaloe.6 bags of weeds were removed from the train station
flowerbeds. The gravel which accumulated in town after the recent rainfall was swept up. The Burma steps were cleaned Saturday and Sunday mornings and a 3 bags of cans and bottles were gathered.Unfortunately our fisherman at Cows Cross and his boat The Optimist were vandalised during the week.We are very disappointed that the hard work undertaken by volunteers at Cows Cross
and “Timmy” ,much enjoyed by so many, would be targeted by idle hands. The Gardai are fully aware of the arson and we will return the area to it’s former glory.

Join us on Monday night,2nd July  for the East Cork cinema clubs fundraiser for Cobh Tidy Towns in the Community Centre – doors open at 7.30. The main feature is a Welsh comedy,”Very Annie Mary” but there will be a short film at the start made by Cobh Youth Services showing the work behind their recycling activities and the creation of the wonderful shark at Cows Cross. Looking forward to seeing you there! We really
appreciate the Cinema Club’s generosity and the people of Cobh for supporting the night. See you on Tuesday at 6.30pm or Saturday at 10am at he playground on the Five Foot way if you would like to join us.
