Breaking The Silence were the beneficiaries of a recent fundraiser which was ran by the CIS Platoon of the 106 Irish/Finn Battalion currently serving in UNIFIL, Lebanon.  These dedicated members of the Irish Defence Forces are passionate about raising awareness of Suicide Prevention and wanted to do a fundraiser for this subject matter. Breaking The Silence will receive $1000 USD as a result of this fundraiser and the following is the message we received from Richie McGrath who played a leading role in this event:

“The platoon is made of members of the Defence Forces from the Army, Naval Service and Air Corps. The Battalion have recently changed their permanent Head Quarters location in Southern Lebanon, and to highlight one of the last nights in the old location a BBQ was held with entertainment supplied by a band made up of members of the Battalion. This was arranged by the CIS Platoon, and attended predominately by members of the Battalion Support Group and Battalion Head Quarters. Contributions were made throughout the night by all who attended, and I was fortunate enough to be able to choose the charity for the evening.  The monies raised on the evening were added to by the generosity of the welfare committee to make the grand total of $1000. We, as a Battalion, are delighted to be able to contribute to such a worthy charity, close to the heart of many members of the Irish Defence Forces”.
