Spring in the air for Cobh Tidy Towns

Published

on

On a relatively mild Saturday morning a large number of volunteers turned up at the Five Foot carpark for a mornings work.A group of 10 young people from Chill on the Hill and their supervisor Stephanie, along with artist Jack Hickey and some Tidy Towns volunteers headed to the beach at the Holy Ground where they collected 21 bags of rubbish some of which will be used for an exciting art project they have planned. We will see the group out again next Saturday to clean up in another area.

Two volunteers gathered 6 bags of rubbish at Newtown in the field opposite Pirates. Some volunteers also cleaned the white railings at the Promenade. These were painted last year by volunteers but over time dirt had accumulated in the grooves of the iron work. Thanks to Kelly’s Bar for the mugs of coffee which were delivered to us at the railings! Well done to the CDYS boys and girls who gathered 2 bags of rubbish last Tuesday in the area they have adopted.Anybody who would like to help us continue to clean the railings or assist in the clean up of our beaches can join us next week at 10am at the playground by the Five Foot Way.
