Cork East Fine Gael TD, David Stanton has welcomed the roll out of sound level meters to Garda Siochana across the country. Sound level meters will allow Garda to record the decibel levels emitted from car exhausts and modified cars.
“Following a parliamentary question to the Minister for Justice, I was advised by the Minister that, following a tendering process, a supplier for sound level meters has been selected and that the contract will be finalised on 18th October. Garda authorities intend to proceed with the roll out of sound level meters across the country as quickly as possible.
“I am very pleased that this type of equipment will now be available to members of An Garda Siochana. Noise pollution from cars is an issue which has been raised to me on a number of occasions in the past. I am sure it is a complaint which local Garda stations received on a regular basis. I hope that all Garda stations will have access to sound level meters for operational use very soon.
