Noreen Kelly held her Presidents Prize for the Ladies on Tuesday 17 July, and for the Men on the weekend from 20th to 22nd July. The Ladies had to play on a wet and windy day (as usual this “summer”). The scoring was naturally on the low side, but over 50 Ladies “weathered” the nasty conditions, and Elaine Feen (HC of 25) came out on top with a respectable 35 points! Congratulations, Elaine! Her mother Mary collected the prize, a beautiful Wedgwood porcelain dancer in limited edition.
The men were luckier with the weather conditions – at least those playing on Saturday! Friday and Sunday were difficult and wet…of course. It was a tight competition, as over 200 participated! In the end, Adrian Taenzer (HC 27), one of our German Club members, won the big prize, a magnificent set of wine glasses from the John Rocha series by Waterford Crystal, with an equally “sparkling” display of golf. He explained rather modestly, that Lady Luck had played him a good hand during the competition – but nonetheless, at 43 points not all could be written down to that one. Well done, Adrian!
A great night of prize giving was held in the Commodore Hotel on Sunday night. And early Monday morning, when most of the members were already sound asleep in their beds at home, Noreen and a close circle of friends and club members (and of course with the help of a great musicman) still got the party going strong! We hope you recovered well from all the preparations and celebrations, Noreen – and thanks so much for the great service you do for the Club, and the beautiful table of prizes!
