Cobh Chamber is delighted to announce our 2011 Christmas Shop Local Initiative is being held again, following on the success of last year’s campaign. Boxes and posters have been delivered to all businesses taking part. “Try Cobh First” is the slogan we are using to encourage as many as possible to shop within Cobh as a first choice. Over 45 businesses have given vouchers as prizes. Over €2,200 worth of vouchers will be divided into prizes.
To have a chance of winning, customers spend €5 in one of the participating shops and then write their name and phone number on the back of the receipt. They put the receipt into the box in the relevant shop. Raffles will take place on Monday 19th December in the Chamber Office.
Christmas lights and a Christmas tree have been provided in Cobh through a partnership between Cobh Town Council, Cobh and Harbour Chamber and Top of the Hill Christmas Lights Committee. Cobh Tourism, See You in Cobh and Christmas in Cobh are doing a great job also providing fun and activities for children and families in the town, including Santa. Cobh is a great town and when everyone works together, we can be as good if not better than any town in Ireland. Well done to all the community groups and thank you to Mayor Jim Quinlan and Cobh Town Council.
Thank you again to Cobh businesses who have once again supported the Christmas Lights and Shop Local. So come on Cobh people, help keep Cobh businesses in business and support local jobs. Good luck to all in the raffles. Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year to all Cobh business people and residents from Cobh and Harbour Chamber.
